Neon Love

31 August 2014

Top- Topshop
Skirt- Topshop
Sandals- Primark
Sunglasses- Topshop
Jewellery- Primark

I love this outfit, its just so me! Both the skirt and top are fairly new buys and i've worn them quite a lot since, the top may only be a t-shirt but the pretty embellishment just makes so much more interesting and it's great an dressing up a plain outfit, the neutral colour means it also goes with everything, casual with jeans and denim shorts or slightly more dressy for example paired with this neon pink skirt. The skirt is another item i've been mixing with different pieces lately to dress up and down, i love a bit of pink and neon is even better, i really like pelmet style skirts, i think it looks great with a simple t-shirt and for night i like to dress it up with a bralet. I don't think i've features these sandals in a outfit post, i've had so many compliments on them and people can never believe their from Primark, best thing is there so comfortable, definite bargain buy of the Summer!

Alchemy Oils Grapefruit Hair Remedy

29 August 2014

Alchemy oils grapefruit hair remedy

I was really excited to be sent a bottle of Alchemy Oils Grapefruit Hair Remedy to try recently as i love using hair oils and credit them to my hair actually getting past that annoying inbetween length.
Grapefruit Hair Remedy is an all natural oil consisting of five super oils that can be used on all hair types as a hair treatment or to style and nourish the ends of the hair.
The five oils it contains are,
Grapefruit oil,
Coconut oil,
Avocado oil,
Almond oil,
and last but not least Castor oil.
All the oils have different properties and help to improve the condition of your hair, Grapefruit oil is a good source of vitamin C, its great at giving the hair a natural shine and helps fight dandruff. Coconut oil is well known as being a wonder product for the hair and skin as its rich in nutrients and helps promote hair growth. Avocado oil contains essential fatty acids to strengthen and revive dried out and damaged hair. Almond oil has a high content of vitamin E and Omega 6,3 and 9 which aids hair growth and thickens and Castor oil helps to protect your hair and promote a healthy scalp, wow that is a whole lot of Vitamins and goodness packed into one little bottle!
The oil comes in a small glass bottle with a cork lid, i wasn't too sure how i was going to like using it as in the past when using an oil without a pump i've found it gets very messy! However luckily the opening to the bottle is a sort of funnel shape which seems to help a great deal and i've actually not found it messy to use even thought its quite a runny oil, which is great as there is noting worse than pouring out way too much oil than you need.
The oil is quite thin and very fruity smelling, i actually find it a bit sweet for my liking as i tend to prefer more coconut smelling oils. I started to use the oil just through the ends of my hair as it can get quite dry just to style it, you don't really need a lot of oil to do the trick and it does a great job and smoothing down the ends of the hair and giving great shine. I also tested it out as a hair treatment over night, so before bed i applied it to my roots massaging it into my scalp, i also worked it through the rest of my hair wrapped it up in a bun and then slept in it. When i washed it out in the morning my hair felt amazingly soft and light, it was also so shiny and healthy looking and not at all greasy which surprised me as when i've tried this before with other oils my hair tends to look a bit greasy even after washing it out.
I've enjoyed using the Grapefruit Hair Remedy over the last few weeks particularly as a treatment, it really did make my hair feel so light and soft the next day and so much more shiny than usual, I'm going to keep applying it through the ends of my hair and do a weekly treatment, I'm interested to see if it does help my hair grow a thicken at all with continued use.

Alchemy Oils Grapefruit Hair Remedy* 100-ml is a available from www.alchemyoils.co.uk and costs £17.99

L'oreal Skin Perfection Magic Touch Instant Blur

L'oreal skin perfection magic touch instant blur

Lately i've found i have a bit of a love hate relationship with Benefits porefessional primer, i do love how it covers and blurs my (massive) pores, however i sometimes find it doesnt work with certain foundations and doesn't sink into the skin properly. So i decided to look for a similar sort of base that was aimed at covering the pores to give an even base before foundation, as there is nothing i hate more than when a foundation just sinks into them,  most definitely not the flawless finish i am after!
I decided to try L'oreals Skin Perfection Magic Touch Instant Blur, having previously tried the serum from the range and really enjoyed using it, it seemed worth a try.
Magic Touch Instant Blur is a tinted cream base which aims to blur irregularities, smooth the skins texture and refine the pores to give the skin a soft focus look. You can use it alone or after moisturiseing before you apply your foundation which is how i use it. I apply it to the areas i need it mainly my t-zone, where i suffer with large pores and shine. The cream has a very thick texture which at first i wasn't sure i was going to like, as i don't like creams and foundation to feel too heavy on my skin. Luckily once worked into the skin it feels completely undetectable, so light like there's nothing even on the skin at all. As i do have oily skin large pores is just something i have to deal with there's no way to get rid of them i just have to cover them the best i can, i was impressed with how the cream does really blur the skin, it does make my pores less visible but doesn't hide them completely. This is a great base for makeup it leaves the skin smooth and refined, it does have a slight tint but i don't notice it on the skin it seems clear to me. The thing that has impressed me the most is how it helps with shine, i didn't buy it expecting miracles in that area i thought it was mainly targeted at covering pores but i've noticed when using this my makeup lasts longer which is a massive plus for me and is something i think it does much better than Porefessional.
Overall I'm pretty impressed with Magic Touch Instant Blur for £12.99 i think it does a great job at creating the perfect base for makeup and at keeping it in place too, and since i started using it my Porefessional hasn't even got a look in!

Have you tried any products from the L'oreal Skin Perfection Range? What did you think?

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick, In Love With Ginger

24 August 2014

Rimmel moisture renew lipstick in love with ginger

Today I'm reviewing In love with Ginger a lipstick from the most Rimmel Moisture Renew range and lets just say its going to be a bit of a mixed review.
I am a big ran of Rimmel's Moisture Renew lipsticks, i've previously featured one on the blog called Dark Night Water-loops a dark plum shade which i just love everything about, and being such a fan i was eager to try some more shades from the collection. I have really got into my orange lipsticks this Summer and had seen a blog post in which In Love With Ginger was said to be a dupe for Mac's Morange, it looked identical in the pictures and with Morange being the top of my Mac lust list and In Love With Ginger being half the price it seemed like an absolute must try!
This is where my mixed feeling's come in, like the other shade i tried from the collection, it has the same amazing glossy finish, great pigmentation and moisturiseing feel, the downside for me is the colour. I was expecting an orange lipstick and i just wouldn't call it orange, i even swatched it in the shop before i bought it and it does look a lot more orange in person, however on the lips i just don't even think it could be classed as an orange/red it just looks plain red to me. So massive disappointment in that area, i do like the colour its just it's not what i was expecting, i would still recommend the range, the lipsticks are great and it hasn't put me off, i will still wear it, just as a red not an orange, so i guess that means i will be putting in that Mac order for Morange after all...

Have you tried the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks? What did you think?

My Favourite Floral Summer Co-ord

22 August 2014

Crop Top- Missguided
Shorts- Missguided
Sandals- Topshop
Sunglasses- Topshop

This Summer i have loved the whole coordinate trend and I'm happy to see that it's carrying on through Autumn. I've bought a fair few co-ords this Summer but this by far has been my favorite, i just love everything about it the colours (pink and purple are my fav), the pom poms and the floral pattern, its just me all over. I've worn this a few times now for night and day and the great thing is it works great for both, for night i just paired it with some white platforms for a more dressed up look. If i was going to a festival (which I'm not sob...) this would be what i would wear as its definitely got that hippie festivaly vibe to it, just throw on some welly's and a kimono and you would be good to go.
For such a bold outfit i like to keep the rest of the outfit simple, plain white sandals and a bit of jewelry but nothing ott, its also still in stock for anybody interested!

What do you think of the coordinate trend?

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush

20 August 2014

Hourglass Ambient lighting blush in luminous flush

I want to apolagise for being a bad blogger the last week and not posting as regularly as usual, i've just been pretty busy and felt a bit out of the swing of things blogging wise, however today i am back with a product i am super excited to share with you and that is one of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushers.
I'd had my eye on the Hourglass products for a while, they seem to me to just be a really luxury brand that does cost you a fair bob (Their primer is £50!!!)  but i always seem to hear good reviews about. I reached five-hundred bloglovin followers last month and decided to give away one of their blushers as a prize, and whilst at it i thought why not treat myself to one too.
Boy was it hard for me to decide on the shade i wanted, they all look amazing in there own different ways, believe me i did a fair bit of research before I made my choice and finally decided on Luminous Flush as i thought it looked like the colour that would suit me best.
The Ambient Lighting blushers are a combination of blush and their best selling Ambient Lighting powders which are highlighting powders to illuminate the skin with different effects. Luminous Flush is a champagne rose blush infused with their Luminous Light powder which is meant to give the skin a soft candlelit glow.
My first thoughts when i opened the sleek looking hourglass packaging was "ohhhh its so pretty" it literally is the most stunning looking blush, my pictures have unfortunately just not done it enough justice to the beautiful baked finish of the rose and champagne colours, especially when it catches the light.
I was determined to stick to the beauty bloggers rules and not put my grubby little paws in to swatch it until  I had taken pictures, and let me tell you that was torture!
When i finally got to test it out i new instantly it was the perfect colour for me, it's just the prettiest pink shade, and even being one of the paler shades in the collection its definitely not too light, i fake tan and it still the perfect shade even when I'm darker. Considering it does look quite light when you swatch it, when you actually apply it to the cheeks i was surprised just how pigmented it is, you don't need a lot for the perfect flush. The texture is smooth and not at all powdery it glides on to the skin so easily and blends out really well.
So lets get to the finish, i am just so in love with how it looks, having never tried any of the Ambient lighting powders i didn't no what to expect but it just makes the skin look amazing. I actually got a compliment when wearing it that my skin looked smooth and doll like and it really does. Its not shimmery it just looks like a soft highlighted sheen. Its great at this is a multi use product that works obviously as a blush and  highlighter and it does both things brilliantly. I have also been impressed with the lasting power makeup does tend to fade on me pretty quick but this lasts really well on me another massive bonus.
At £28 the Hourglass Blushers aren't the cheapest option, but i really think they are worth every penny, Luminous Flush has quickly become my favourite blusher i own i couldn't have designed a more perfect blusher if i tried, its made me so eager to try out some more Hourglass products, unluckily for my bank account...

Have you tried any Hourglass products? What did you think?

Palm Tree Nails Tutorial

14 August 2014

I had been meaning to do another nail tutorial for a while now, its not that i didn't have anything i wanted to do, i have a big list of ideas i want to have a go at i just never seem to plan the time to do one.
I wanted to do something tropical as although the current weather may have us believing otherwise it is still Summer! All i had in mind when i started was tropical palm trees and neon colours and this is what i came up with, i think it has a Ibiza vibe to it and i do like it, is it perfect? most definitely not so lets try and ignore the slightly dodgy palm tree on my middle finger... (I'm my defense i only had one fully functioning eye at the time)
So if you want to create my wonky palm tree tutorial yourself keep on reading!

What you need-
If you want to go for a sunrise style ombre base like me, neon colours will look great and really pop i used,
BarryM 322, Orly Peach Pastel Neon and Orly Tennis Ball Neon
You will also need-
A white and black polish,
An old makeup/paintbrush,
Nail art pen in Black,
Makeup sponge,
Topcoat.

Step One-
Apply two coats of a white polish for a base this will make the colours much brighter.
Step Two-
Take your makeup sponge and measure it against your nails cut it to a smaller size to make it easier to use (you should have a small rectangle shape). Take your first colour (pink) and paint a stripe along the top of the sponge, then take your second colour (orange) and paint that below the pink, and finally take your third colour (yellow) and paint that across the bottom.
Step Three-
Line the sponge up against the nail and gently dab it across the nail, re-apply more polish and repeat on the rest of the nails.
Step Four-
Allow the nails to dry then go over repeating the same process with a second coat, i did three coats on mine so just keep going over until you get the coverage you want.
Step Five-
Once the nails are dry its time to do the palm tree, i only chose to do them on my thumb and middle fingers, you could do every nail if you wanted.
Step Six-
Depending on what your most comfortable with you could use a nail art pen or a brush to draw on the palm tree, i found the pen too thin so i used a brush for the majority of it.
I poured out a bit of black polish onto some tin foil dipped in the brush, i then started painting the trunk of the tree in the corner of the base of the nail taking it up to make a slightly curved line.
Step Seven-
Dip the brush in some more polish and draw on the palm tree leaves, three each side slanting downward will look best. Draw a small diagonal black line at the base of the nail to look like sand.
Step Eight-
Using the nail art pen draw a few stray thin stray lines coming out of the leaves to make the leaves look more authentic.
Step Nine-
Allow the nails to dry completely then add a topcoat to seal.

I hope that was easy enough to follow, if you want to see pictures of how to do the ombre nails i did a tutorial on it a while back that i will link (here) Let me no what you think (be kind about the funky nail) and comment below if there is anything you would like me to have a go at.

My Summer Beauty Favourites

11 August 2014

Summer beauty favourites
Summer beauty favourite

I realised i hadn't done a favorites post in a while my last one was way back in May and as you can imagine their has been a fair few new products i've been loving since then.
As the post is covering the last few months of favorites and they all have a Summery theme i've called the post My Summer Beauty Favorites i thought it would be good way to share with you all of my Summer essentials for nails, hair and skin.

Vaseline Spray&Go Body Moisturiser Aloe Vera-
I reviewed the Coco Butter one of the Vaseline Spray&Go moisturisers a while back, if you read it you would no how much i loved it. I took it away on holiday with me however when i came back with my sore and peeling skin i decided to go and pick up the Aloe Vera version. I love the Aloe Vera one just as much, its just as good as the cocoa Butter one and i also love the smell its so fresh and it really did help to sooth my poor skin. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a easy to use Summer Moisteriser to sooth their skin.

Aussie Beach Mate Shampoo and Beach Mate 3 Minute Miracle Deep Treatment-
I am a big fan of the Aussie haircare range they always leave my hair feeling and looking great. I picked up the the Beach Mate version of the Miracle Moist shampoo and deep conditioner to take away on holiday with me to help deal with the effects of sun, sea and chlorine on my hair. Even though i also really like the normal conditioner from the range, when i go on holiday i like to take the Deep Conditioner with me and use it every time i wash my hair to keep it soft and well conditioned.

L'oreal Sublime Bronze Self Tanning Elixir-
Now this is a fairly new favorite i've only been using it for a few weeks now but I'm really enjoying it and I'm pretty impressed with both the colour and the finish, I'm not going tot say too much more about it as i will do a full review with pictures soon for anybody interested.

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream-
I no this little beauty has had a few mentions on the blog now, but no Summer favorites would be complete with out it! Since first trying it this has now become my everyday base, i love the colour its perfect for me and it just brightens the skin so well its got great coverage for a CC cream whilst still being light enough for the Summer.

Benefit Watts Up Highlighter-
This is my favorite new highlighter its a great one for Summer as its a cream highlighter stick in a gorgeous champagne colour that goes so well with tanned skin. It looks amazing when it catches the light just the most beautiful soft illuminated finish.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation-
I've had this foundation a few months now and it has quickly become my favorite, whereas i wear the Boujois CC Cream on a day to day basis at work etc when i've been going out and wearing foundation this is the one i've been reaching for. The light and dewy finish make this a great Summer foundation.

L'oreal L'Exraordinaire Liquid lipsticks-
Summer lips for me are all about bright pops of colour and glossy finishes, and the L'oreal Liquid Lipsticks have both of them covered. There is a great selection of bold Summer colours in the collection and also a few pretty nudes if bright lips aren't your thing. They are super moisteriseing on the lips and give a brilliant glossy finish, I would recommend my two favorites Tangerine Sonate and Fuscia Drama.

Nars Laguna Bronzer-
No Summer favorites would be complete without a bronzer and my bronzer of choice this Summer has been Nars Laguna. I've never found a more natural colored bronzer, its not orange in the slightest it just gives you a natural tanned colour to the skin. I've been using it all over the face and also for contouring and it works brilliantly for both, I'm also impressed with how well this seems to be lasting i use it everyday and it looks barely touched!

Gosh Forever Eye Shadow Stick and Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows-
For me Summer eyes are all about the cream products, there quick and simple to use and look so good with that fresh dewy Summer makeup. Of course in the heat you don't want creams that will crease, two of my favorite cream products that don't crease are the Gosh Shadow Sticks and the Benefit cream Shadows both have a great selection of colours and last really well on the eyes.

BarryM Pastel Nail Paints-
I cant remember the last time i used a dark colour on my nails, for me Summer is all about the pastels! Some of my favorite pastel polishes and the ones i've been loving are the BarryM ones both the original Nail paints and the Jelly polishes have great colours and are such good quality for the price definite winner for Summer nails.

What are your Summer beauty favorites?

Sleek Blush By 3 Pink Lemonade

06 August 2014

Sleek blush by 3 pink lemonade
Sleek blush by 3 pink lemonade
Pink Mint/Macaroon/Icing Sugar

The Sleek Pink Lemonade and Californ.i.a palettes were new additions to the Sleek Blush by 3 collection early this year, both with absolutely gorgeous colours for Spring/Summer, after some careful deliberation i decided to treat myself to the Californ.i.a palette which i reviewed back in March. However as you can see i have since caved and bought Pink Lemonade too... what can i say i am a weak individual. I cant believe a year ago i didn't even used to bother with blusher, i just used to use bronzer and highlighter. I actually think i owned one, and well a year later and i've got them coming out my ears I'm literally obsessed with them right now.
Pink Lemonade is a collection of three blushers, two powder and one cream both powders contain a very slight shimmer. You might look at them and think why do you need three similar looking blushes, but as you can see from the swatches although all pink they are actually very different. Pink Mint is a pretty pale pink almost frosted looking blush and my favourite of the three, i just think it really suits my complexion its a great one for paler skin. Macaroon the cream blush its a medium cool toned pink very pigmented so you really don't need to use a lot i like to lightly apply with a stippling brush as i think it gives a even finish. Icing Sugar is a warm toned rusty orange/pink its not really a colour i would have chosen had it been individual but i actually really like it, i think its going to be a great shade for Autumn. It is the most pigmented of the three so a very light hand is needed especially if your on the paler side, i think this would be a great shade for darker skintones.
I think this is a great little palette, great colours that have great pigmentation with something to suit everyone, and at £9.99 for the palette its a massive bargain!

Which ones your favourite?

How to Wear Purple Lipstick Tutorial

04 August 2014

how to wear purple lipstick
how to wear purple lipstick
how to wear purple lipstick

I love a bold lip, for me its just a simple way to update my look and try something new. I love playing with colour and experimenting with my makeup but i understand that for some people they might long to try something new but have no idea where to start. I wrote a post a few weeks ago where i reviewed this Purple Sleek Lipstick so i thought i would do one showing how i would actually wear it and what i would do with my eye makeup just to help out anyone who might want some ideas.

What I Used-

Face-
L'oreal Skin Perfection Magic Touch Instant Blur
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (Fuji)
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (Light)
Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder
Nars Laguna Bronzer
Rimmel Stay Bushed (Pop of Pink)
Mac Mineralized Skinfinish (Soft and Gentle)

Eyes/Brows-
Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil (Hazel)
Benefit Gimmie Brow (Light/Medium)
Benefit Stay Don't Stray
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow (Birthday Suit)
Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner (Black)
Bourjois Volume 1 Second Mascara (Black)
Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter

Lips-
Sleek True Colour Lipstick (Exxxagerate)

I decided that as the lips are stand out enough themselves that i would keep the eyes fairly simple with not too much colour going on. So for my eyes after putting on a bit of eye primer i applied a cream shadow in a neutral taupe brown shade over the entire lid and blended it out. I went for a cream shadow instead of a regular shadow as the lipstick is matte i didn't want the look to be too flat. My main idea for the eyes was to have more dramatic liner with a cat flick i think its bold enough to work well with the lips but still simple. Now i am rubbish with doing liquid liner and flicks but i use a little trick of putting a bit of tape from the outer corner of my eye at an angle up towards my eyebrow, you then simple use it as a guide of where to do your flick it really makes it so much easier! I then applied a few coats of mascara and thats was the eyes done.
The rest of the makeup is pretty natural a soft flush of pink on the cheeks using a cream blush and a bit of bronzer and highlighter.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how i wear a bold purple lip, i think it works well for day and night and i personally love how it looks.

How would you wear purple Lipstick?

Pom Pom Swing Dress

01 August 2014

Dress- Missguided
Shoes- Hidden Fashion

I think i must still be feeling the holiday vibe because i am just loving anything with tropical prints and pom poms lately! I fell in love with the cute print of this dress and ordered it instantly, it reminded me of those Topshop jeans everyone had with a simular print that i unfortunately couldn't get my hands on. I wasn't sure of the strappy swing style to begin with, its different to what i usually wear and it felt a bit strange to start with, i was worried it would make me look a lot bigger but i actually really like it now.
I think the pom poms, tropical print and floaty style make this the prefect Summer dress, i've styled it with these amazing pink platforms from Hidden Fashion i picked them up for £4.99 can you believe it what a bargain?!

What do you think of the dress?
