January Birchbox, My Last Box!

30 January 2014

I have been subscribed to beauty subscription boxes now for nine months. I first subscribed to Glossybox, followed by Birchbox who i have been subscribed too for the last four months.
As much as i have loved receiving my boxes and have acquired some great products (my first two Birchboxes contained a Laura Mercier product and the latest January addition Benefits Porefessional and Philip Kingsley Elasticiser which i was happy with) i have just found myself feeling very underwhelmed with the boxes in general.
I do think the idea is a great one, it's a great way to try and discover new products and brands i have found a few new favorites over the months, and it is exciting knowing that your having a box of new products to try delivered to your door every month. I just think for me the excitement and a bit of the novelty has worn off, most boxes only have one or two samples that i have heard of before and am excited about. I've also found a lot of the products always seem to be the same thing i have a handful of hand creams and cleansers waiting to be used that i really don't need.
I have now cancelled my subscription although my experience with beauty subscription boxes has been a positive one i just feel that i could put that £12.00 towards other beauty items on my wishlist that i really want and need, so thats exactly what i'm going to do.

Has anyone else got a bit fed up of Glossybox or Birchbox? Or are you still really happy with your boxes?

OOTD Leopard Print Smock

25 January 2014

Dress- Topshop
Jacket- Topshop
Boots- New Look
Bag- Primark
Necklace- Republic

Hey lovelies, I'm a happy girl today as i have the whole weekend off and am making the most of it, i have lots planned with family and friends to keep me occupied. I managed to get a few outfit pictures which was some task in the gale force winds i can tell you, and it was even harder to choose ones where I'm not being attacked by my hair or flashing my pants...
I love this dress its one of my favorites, the print is bold and colorful which is right up my street and the smock style is just so simple and easy to wear, i kept the rest of the outfit simple with just a back jacket, black cut out boots and a studded clutch.

I hope you like my outfit, have a good weekend

Mini Mac Haul

21 January 2014

Hello lovelies, i am very excited today to be sharing with you my mini Mac haul, i hope that it makes up for things being a bit quiet on the log lately.
Can you believe these are my first ever bit of Mac makeup?! I no your probably all tutting and questioning how i can even call myself a beauty blogger, the thing is there just isn't a Mac counter any where near me, i've never had the luxury of browsing the Mac counter but i decided i needed some Mac in my life. I asked in a beauty bloggers chat on twitter what you would recommend and what i should start my collection with, i got some great advice and i decided that these three pieces where what i wanted, i put them on my Christmas list and was delighted to unwrap them Christmas morning.

Mac Satin Lipstick in Pink Nouveau-
What better way to start my collection than with a lipstick, it was a very hard choice to decide on a shade there are so many i'm desperate to get my hands on but i thought a nice pink would be a great place to start. I chose Pink Nouveau, its a blue toned very Barbie pink and i love it! Its a bit bolder than your average everyday pink but i like a stand out lip and i think this looks great with a bronze eye look. The formula is lovely its creamy and has a nice sheen to the finish, i was also pretty impressed with the staying power.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle-
So many bloggers have raved about this i knew i needed to try it for myself, and wow what a gorgeous product it is. Its just the most perfect highlighter its not too overpowering but it gives the most beautiful subtle glow that is easily built up if you desire. The colour is a champagne/gold shade, that looks glittery in the pan but on the skin it gives a very natural looking healthy sheen, its just a wonder product and a definite new favorite of mine.

Mac Pro Longwear Paint pot in Let's Skate-
I ummed and ahhed between trying an eyeshadow first or a paint pot and as you can see the paint pot won. I really have a thing for cream bases i love that they can be worn alone or layered with eyeshadow's. I knew exactly which one i wanted i had seen Zoella and Sprinkle of Glitter talk about it and its the beautiful Let's Skate. It is such a pretty colour a very pale pink, with a mixture of pink and gold shimmer. Used lightly across the eyelids its very subtle and the light picks up the fine sparkle beautifully, with a few layers the pick colour is stronger and just so pretty. This lasts really well and i had no problem with creasing, i will definitely be adding more paint pots to my collection.

I am very impressed and extremely in love with my new Mac makeup, i have well and truly caught the Mac bug and cant wait to add more pieces to my collection, goodbye ££££!
What would you recommend i try next?

OOTD, Lime and Checks

16 January 2014

Top- Topshop
Jumper- Primark
Skirt- Missguided (Here)
Boots- River Island (Here)
Necklaces- Topshop

I decided i wanted to start taking more outfit pictures outside as i think they look miles better than in my dark little bedroom, so i grabbed my mum much to her delight... and headed out to the road outside my house. If the neighbors didn't already think we were complete weirdoes i'm pretty sure they do now!
I really do take my hat off to the fashion bloggers who boldly take there pictures in busy public places, if i look awkward in the pictures that because i felt it....
Anyway the skirt is new, i got it last week from Missguided i'm loving check prints right now and it was only £9.99 which is such a great price. The skirt goes with loads, today i wore it with a lime green cami for a bit of colour, a black fluffy jumper, thick black tights and my new River Island flat boots which i'm obsessed with.

I hope you liked my outfit, How would you wear the skirt?

2013 Beauty Favorites, Skin, Hair and Nails

11 January 2014

My first 2013 favorites post went up on wednesday, featuring my favorite makeup products from the year, this is the follow up post featuring my favorite beauty products from 2013.
With makeup i find like most women i suppose you may have a favorite lipstick or eyeshadow but i expect you have a lot of each of the those things at one time that your using, whereas with beauty products like moisturizers and face washes like me, you probably go through a few different ones in a year but you use them one at a time, thats why i think beauty favorites are interesting because to repurchase a product and not try something new means it has really impressed!
I've picked the skin, hair and nail beauty products that have stood out to me the most the past year, that i would repurchase, some i have already and will be continuing to use through 2014.

Skin
Bioderma Micelle Solution-
This is without a doubt one of my favorite discoveries of 2013, i haven't used anything else to remove my makeup since i first tried it. It removes my makeup so well, doesn't hurt my eyes at all and is really gentle on the skin.

Estee Lauder Sparkling Clean Cleanser-
I am a massive fan of Estee Lauder skin care, this may be quite pricey for a face wash but it has lasted me all year. Its targeted at oily skin and is really gentle yet cleans the skin really well.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat-
I am on my second tube of this moisturizer now which speaks volumes for a moisturizer as i usually change them all the time and rarely re-buy the same one, i just love how light and fresh this feels on my skin and it really does help to mattify.

Ren Invisible Pores Detox Mask-
I've tried a lot of clay masks this one stood out to me, it really does make my skin feel unclogged and completely fresh how it should feel after a face mask.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil-
This is the first oil i have ever used on my face, i found it a bit strange to begin with putting oil on my oily skin, but i am completely in love with it. Its great for getting rid of redness and scaring from spots, and i wake up with my skin glowing after using it.

Garnier Pure Active Roll-On-
This helps to reduce inflammation from spots and isn't harsh on the skin, also helps with any marks left behind.

Imperial Leather Shower Cream-
I don't have particular favorite just the Shower Creams in general all smell amazing and leave my skin feeling nice and soft.

Garnier Ultimate Beauty Oil-
Perfect for lazy girls like me...just spray and go! This smells so good and it sinks in well,  leaving you with a gorgeous glow to the body and doesn't leave you sticky.

St. Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mouse-
My favorite beauty bargain, a massive bottle for £4.99! I've never had any trouble with this streaking and i love the colour it gives.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub-
This is great at freshening up dry lips giving a better base for lipstick, and you can eat it, amazing! It tastes like sweets.

Hair
John Frieda Full Repair Hydrate+Rescue Shampoo*-
I was sent this shampoo to try and i fell in love with it, it leaves hair soft nourished and smelling great.

John Frieda Full Repair Hydrate+Rescue Deep Conditioner-
I also got sent the normal conditioner version of this and i really liked it too, when i used it up i bought the Deep conditioner to try and i have been using this as my conditioner instead of a mask.

Charles Worthington Intense Rescue Melting Balm-
You have to warm this balm up in your hands to make an oil which you apply to your hair as a mask and leave on for 20 mins, it leaves the hair feeling amazing definite must try!

Treseme 24 Hour Body Blow Dry Lotion-
I love the volume this gives me at my roots, yet still leaves the hair feeling light like there's no product in it.

Treseme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Spray-
I no its quite hard to judge if a heat protectant spray is actually doing it job, this has been my favorite out of a few i've tried because it doesn't leave my hair crispy or greasy looking even if i'm spraying it on dry hair.

Argan Secret, Argan Oil*-
My best friend had two of these so she gave me one to try, bless her cottons! It was the first proper hair oil i had used and it really did the trick of sorting out my dry ends. Its very thick yet doesn't make the hair look greasy, i'm also obsessed with the smell. I've tries a lot of other oils since but this just feels very luxurious in my hair.

Tangle Teaser-
I don't use a normal brush or comb anymore, tangle teasers are so much gentler on the hair and you can use them on wet or dry hair. Can't see myself ever going back to a normal brush again.

Nails
Bourjois Dissolvant Miracleux-
This nail polish remover has made my life a lot easier, nobody likes spending forever taking the old polish off and this makes it really quick even with stubborn glitter polishes.

Neom Complete Bliss Organic Hand Cream-
I am not the best person at remembering to moisturize my poor hands, but when i do this is my favorite it jut smells so yummy, oh and it makes my hands feel soft too...

BarryM Gelly Polish-
It was really hard to pick a favorite polish, i love my nail polishes and i have a billion that i could call my favorites but as i have to pick i would say the BarryM Gelly polishes are great, they look like gel,  there is a great colour selection, and there only £3.99 each!

Wow so there you have it my favorite beauty products from 2013, that turned out to be a long post, if you actually stuck with me and read my ramblings right to the end, well done.
Have you tried any of my favorites? What are your favorite beauty products from the year?

2013 Makeup Favorites

08 January 2014

Hey lovelies, i like to try and do a favorites post each month, its just a good way to share the products I'm currently loving  and why i like them. I've decided not to do a december favorites, instead I'm going to do a couple of posts dedicated to my favorite products from 2013, the first makeup and the second beauty and random favorites.
This post is my makeup favorites from the past year,  i have picked a single winning favorite for each category like my own little makeup awards. It was hard to choose some of them but i went for the things that i find myself reaching for more than the rest and ones that have really stood out to me for whatever reason. Some are old favorites and some i may have only discovered in the last couple of months, all i expect you've heard me ramble on and on about all of them before but thats simply because i love them!

Primer- Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer
I require a primer to be mattifying and this one really does the trick it also leaves my skin smooth and a great base for makeup.

Foundation- Vichy Dermablend
Foundation was a really hard one to choose, ive tried a few new foundations this year but Vichy dermablend is what i find my self reaching for when i want a flawless base that covers everything yet leaves your skin looking glowing.

Concealer- Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Great concealer at a great price, not a lot more to say than that really.

Blusher- Sleek Rose Gold Blush
Clear winner for me, the most beautiful flattering pink with gold shimmer.

Bronzer- Topshop Matte Bronzer in Sandcastle
Another clear favorite, i've mentioned it a shed load of times, i love the colour and i haven't used any other bronzer since i bought it.

Highlighter- Sleek Face Form Palette Highlighter, Benefit High Brow
(I know ive picked two highlighters but i use them both for different things so that should be allowed right?)
The Sleek highlighter is very subtle and pretty but thats why i love it, great for everyday use. I also love Benefits High Brow to  highlight the brow bone, inner corners of my eye and my cupids bow.

Powder- Rimmel Stay Matte
This is an old favorite, i've tried all sorts of face powders at all price ranges but i always come back to this one.

Eyebrow Product- Sleek Brow Kit
I like that you have a wax and a powder, it's the powder i use mainly its just a good colour for me.

Eye Palette- Urban Decay Naked 2
Naked 2 palette is a clear winner for me, i've used it to death over the past year, its been with me on all my travels as its got everything you need for a variety of looks.

Single Eye Product- Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Bikini-Tini
Massive fan of Benefits Creaseless Cream Shadows i have a few colours but this is my favorite i use it all the time as a simple complete eye look and also as a base for other colours.

Mascara- Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme
I have worked my way through a lot of mascara's this year but this one stands out to me, it gives longer fuller lashes and doesn't clump.

Eyeliner- Collection Extreme 24 hour Felt Tip Liner
Another great Collection product at a great price that does the trick. Good black black colour, i love the size of the nib, great for fool proof eyeliner application.

Lipstick- Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in 380 Dark Night Waterl-Ooops
Found it hard to pick a favorite lipstick, there's so many that i love and this is hardly the most wearable of shades but its my favorite of the years new finds, i like that its something different and bolder for me.

Lipgloss- Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Peach on the Beach
This has been my most used lip product since i bought it, its just s great colour and i love how it just feels like I'm wearing a lip balm.

Lip Balm- The Body Shop Born Lippy in Watermelon
Soothes my lips nicely and smells so yummy.

So there you have it my favorite makeup products from 2013!
Round of applause to the winning products, you have served me well my beauties and helped me to look slightly presentable over the past year and for that i thank you!

What are your favorite makeup products from the last year?

New Years Goals And Resolutions

05 January 2014

Welcome to 2014 everyone! Now i usually set myself a few New Year's resolutions each year to try and achieve, i think its a great way of having something to aim towards and direct your energy at, and of course you get a great feeling when you achieve them.
Last year i did achieve a few of my resolutions i gained a new qualification and i went on my first girls holiday, 2013 was also when i started up my blog which wasn't a resolution but to me its been my greatest achievement of the year!
This year i am going to set myself some new goals and resolutions, these will be to do with my blog and also personal ones as well. I hope that by sharing them with you, it will give me extra drive to for-fill them!

Keep up with blogging-
Since i started my blog last May, it has become a massive part of my life, i've never really had a hobby i've stuck to before but i have finally found one that i love and i want to continue blogging through 2014 and reaching new goals and targets.
Blog goals-
1- Get my blog professionally designed
2- Improve my photography skills, to improve blog pictures.
3- Improve on my blog organization, scheduled posts, post planning, photo sessions, replying to comments etc.
4- Targets, by my blogs first birthday in may i would like to reach 500 bloglovin followers, 200 GFC, 2000 Twitter and 200 Instagram.

More holidays-
Going on holidays, seeing different parts of the world and experiencing new things is my favorite thing to do. This year i want to do more of that starting hopefully with another girls holiday in June.

Healthier Lifestyle-
I no this is probably the most common of all New Years resolutions..... and i expect the most failed!
I've never been one for exercise and healthy diets, i love food especially the things that aren't particularly good for you, bread, cheese, chocolate, and I'm not saying i want to cut any of those out, because that would just make one very depressing year for me! I would like to introduce a lot more fruit and veg into my diet and try to drink more water. I also am never going to suddenly turn into some massive gym bunny, to be honest i love being lazy far too much for that, but i would quiet like to start running a few times a week and maybe go to an exercise class.

Spend more time with friends and family-
My friends and family and the most important things in my life, i don't no what i would do with out them. I try to make time to see my friends and family as much as i can, this year i want to do more things with my friends, weekends away day trips to places because we always have such a laugh, i also want to make the time to visit and see family that live a bit further away that i don't get to see very often.

Find a career not just a job-
What i mean by this one is i have a job it pays the bills, but is it my life's calling? Is it something I'm passionate about? The answer is no, I'm still not sure what it is i want to do, and so i want to spend more time over 2014 trying to figure that out and finding my career.

Be braver-
I have always been a very shy person, i get very shy meeting new people and would usually try and avoid new situations that would make me feel uncomfortable or anxious. Last year blogging brought about the opportunity to attend a few blogger events. The thought of going to an event with people i had never met before was terrifying for me, but i pushed myself and i went. I am so happy that i did i met some lovely people, stepping outside of my comfort zone helped give me a lot more confidence and i hope to push that further in 2014.

Find who i am-
This is probably a bit of a deep one for a new years resolution, yet one that i feel really applies to me.
The last few years i have felt very confused with not only what i want to do with my life but who i am, that may sound like a strange thing to say, but i felt like i was just going through life with out heading in any particular direction, not knowing what i wanted at the end of it. In 2014 i want to really push myself to try new things, be braver and find my path, i don't just want to exist i want to really live life!

So those are my new goals and resolutions for 2014, and i am going to try my hardest to achieve them!
What do you want to achieve in 2014?

New Years Eve, OOTN

03 January 2014

Playsuit- Missguided
Shoes- Primark
Earrings- River Island
Bracelets- Republic

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you had a great New Year, i spent mine in cardiff with three of my best friends. I had such a good time, a very lively night out on new years Eve, followed by a very chilled day mainly spent in our onesies eating anything we could get our hands on...oh and of course we managed to fit in a bit of sale shopping!
The playsuit i wore is from Missguided, i rarely wear all black I'm usually one for colour so it was quiet a different choice for me but i fell in love with it. Its quiet lose fitting yet i think figure flattering, and of course i love the sequined top part, you've gotta have a bit of sparkle in your outfit for New Years!
Hair and makeup wise i wanted big hair, gold eyes and bold red lips and nails for a glamourous party look.

What did you all get up to New Years? And what did you wear?
