NYX Conceal Correct Contour Palette

Over the last few years the world has become obsessed with contouring, most definitely no makeup fad this is one trend that is here to stay, and for myself and I'm sure also many others has become a firm part of my makeup routine. I love a bit of contouring it can make such a difference and i just feel it can make you look much more polished and helps bring all your makeup together.
I don't go crazy on a daily basis i use either my Laguna bronzer or Anastasia Beverly hills powder contour palette to define my cheekbones however if i'm going on a night out i might go slightly more dramatic. For a long time i had fancied trying to contour with a cream product, i was tempted to buy the new Anastasia cream kit but i've heard pretty mixed reviews and it seemed like an expensive purchase to possibly end up not liking. I did a little research online for a cheaper alternative, found this NYX  palette and i thought it was worth a try.
The NYX Conceal Correct Contour palette is a combination of six cream shades to conceal spots, correct discoloration and contour and highlight. Available in three shades i picked up the lightest shade which looked like it would best suit my skin-tone. The light palette has neutral, pink undertone and  yellow undertone creams perfect for concealing, a taupe cream for contouring and yellow and salmon corrector creams.
I like to apply my foundation then use a bit of the salmon colour to correct under my eyes before adding some of the yellow cream on top to highlight the under-eye area. I use the contour shade to define my cheekbones, down the sides of my nose around the top of my forehead. The creams are quite thick however blend out well, i then set them with a powder on top to keep in place.
The taupe colour is the best contour shade i've found so far its just the right sort of cool tone that looks really natural and like a shadow would look.
A few things i don't like about the palette is the size of the creams themselves, i find it hard to get my contour brush in and as the consistency is quite thick you do need to work the brush in a bit to get enough product. I also have found you really need to set your under-eye area well to stop the cream creasing.
I do like the NYX Cream palette but am i in love with it? no, i think it could be improved but when i want a more dramatic contoured look this is what i would reach for and at £16 its a great palette for anyone that wants to try a cream contour kit without forking out too much money.

Have you tried the NYX Conceal Correct Contour palette?

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit

Shade- Vanilla, Banana, Sand, Java, Fawn, Havana
Correct me if I'm wrong but i feel its safe to say that the beauty world has gone a little contour crazy. I cant say quite when it started, i became aware of it after i and many others alike became obsessed with Kim Kardashians chiseled and perfected makeup look, I'm not a massive fan of her but boy her makeup is always on point.. i mean those cheekbones are out of his world and nobody can ague with that! I turned to google and YouTube in the hopes of finding out her secrets and is where it all started for me. Contouring if done correctly can dramatically change the way your makeup looks, weather you want a subtle bit of definition or a full on face of contouring and highlighting its a great way to naturally enhance, define and sculpt areas of the face.
Before trying the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour palette, i used to simply use my Nars Laguna bronzer to contour with and although it does a fairly decent job and is a good natural looking shades for me, i really wanted to try something with a few different shades so i could try a more dramatic contoured look.
The Anastasia palette consists of six refillable powders, Vanilla a light pink toned highlight, Banana a yellow toned highlight, and sand a peach toned highlight with a very subtle shimmer to it. The contouring shades are Java a medium warn toned brown, Fawn light/medium cool toned brown and Havana a dark warm toned brown, all are matte.
The palette i have is the original palette and i would say its best suited for light/medium skin tones, there has since been a much larger variety of colours released and as the palette is refillable you could simply switch up some shades if you wanted, i love thats its also easy to replace shades you run out of without having to buy a new palette. The powders are all well pigmented, there also smooth and blend brilliantly. I've been enjoying using Vanilla to set my highlight areas, then using Banana to set just under the eyes the yellow brightens the area well. Sand is a really pretty highlight shade i just find it a bit subtle a highlight for the cheekbones for me i like something a lot more glowy, however i do like running a bit down the middle of my nose and on my cupids bow. For contouring i mainly use Fawn the cool tone is the most natural shade for me and it gives a really decent contour without being to much. If i've fake tanned a lot or just want something slightly more dramatic i add a little bit of Java on top of Fawn mainly just on the hollows of my cheeks and around my hairline and jawline, it would be too dark for my nose.
I really have been enjoying playing around with this palette, i think contouring takes a bit of practice to see what works best for you but a kit like this has everything you need in one compact little palette. This palette has really fueled my contouring fire, now i feel I'm mastering the powder contour i feel i may be ready to take on a cream contoured look and as it so has it Anastasia Beverly Hills has brought out there new collection of Cream Contour Kits today, i know what's next on my beauty wishlist....

Have you tired the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit? What did you think?

Mini Sleek Haul and Review!

14 September 2013

Hello lovely's, i've got a few goodies from Sleek to share with you. These are the first bits of Sleek makeup i have purchased, i had been wanting to try Sleek for a while as id heard how good the pigmentation and quality of the products are for a relatively inexpensive brand. Unfortunately my local superdrug doesn't stock sleek products, one of the joys of living where i do.... so i had to order mine online i picked up the Candy collection blush palette, Face form palette and the Brow Kit.

Cupcake, Dolly Mix, Candy Floss.

Sleek Blush BY 3 Candy Collection, Sweet Cheeks-
This product was the main driving force behind the order, i had seen so many blog posts about this and was dying to pick it up for myself. The Sweet Cheeks palette is limited edition (still available online) and consists of a matt powder, a shimmer powder, and a cream blush. Everything about this palette is amazing, anyone who's a sucker for packaging like me will find it hard not to be drawn in by the cute candy inspired box. The blushers themselves are the MOST intensely pigmented blushers i've ever tried! Cupcake is the cream blush, its more of a blue toned pink, you don't need a lot of product and its blends out really well. Dolly Mix is the matt powder and is a very lilac pink, its the lightest of the blushers, and my favorite of the three. Candy floss is the shimmer powder, its a very bold fuchsia pink definitely not one for the fait hearted i only used the tinniest bit of this on my brush and i found it way to bight for me, i think its probably more suited to darker skintones.

Contour, Highlighter, Blusher.

Sleek Face Form Palette in Light-
I was really interested to try this, as i had been looking for a product to contour with, Sleek also do a palette with just the contour and highlight but i really liked the look of the blusher so i went for this one.
The contour is basically a matt bronzer its used to sculpt and define the face in areas like under the cheekbones, forehead and nose, i was really happy with the colour its not too dark and its easily blended for a natural look. The highlighter is a shimmery pearl colour, which you use to highlight areas that would naturally catch the light like the cheekbones and down the nose. I Think its so pretty, i find it quiet light so i have to apply more to get the look i want. The blusher is a gorgeous coral with gold shimmer, i am so i love with it i think it just gives such a healthy look to the skin it would suit all skintones, its my new favorite blusher!

Wax, Powder.

 Sleek Brow Kit in Light-
The Brow Kit consists of a wax, a powder, an angled brush, a blending brush and some tweezers. The wax is the darker shade which you use first to define and shape the brows, you then fill in the brows with the lighter powder. I would say this is the perfect colour for me, my eyebrows are very light naturally so i don't like to go to drastically dark but i do like them to stand out and define my face. I had never used a wax before but i like how it holds the hairs in place. Before buying this i had always used an eyebrow pencil, i am now completely converted to this little kit.

Has anyone tried any of these Sleek products? What did you think?
