April Beauty Haul

16 April 2015

Just a quick post to share a few new makeup goodies i've treated myself to lately....

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe-
Im a massive fan of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip-brow Pomade, its my go to for on point brows, the only problem is i find i like to take my time with it to get it looking how i want and on days i literally have minutes to do my makeup and get out the door that just doesn't work. I'd also heard good things about the Brow Wiz so i thought that id give it a try if that works better for the days i need my brows fast.

Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer-
Id been lusting after this primer for a long time, but at £50 a bottle i wanted to know i would like it before i bought it for myself. I got a sample pot from Space Nk and unfortunately... i loved it. I managed to find the smaller version at a much more reasonable price of £20 so i added it to my basket immediately.

Nyx Conceal Correct Contour in Light-
I really fancied trying a cream contour kit, but before splashing out on a pricey Anastasia Beverly Hills one without knowing if i'd actually get on with a cream product i thought id try a cheaper version first. I spotted a great review of this NYX kit on Kissable Complexions blog and thought i'd give it a go.

Anastasia Liquid Lipstick in Baby Pink-
I had been dying to get my hands on one of these ever since they first launched. I'm a big fan of liquid lipsticks and they have an amazing colour selection, it was hard to choose a colour but i finally settled on Baby Pink, i will do a full review once i've tested it out properly.

Have you treated yourself to any new makeup lately? What's on your wishlist?

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit

Shade- Vanilla, Banana, Sand, Java, Fawn, Havana
Correct me if I'm wrong but i feel its safe to say that the beauty world has gone a little contour crazy. I cant say quite when it started, i became aware of it after i and many others alike became obsessed with Kim Kardashians chiseled and perfected makeup look, I'm not a massive fan of her but boy her makeup is always on point.. i mean those cheekbones are out of his world and nobody can ague with that! I turned to google and YouTube in the hopes of finding out her secrets and is where it all started for me. Contouring if done correctly can dramatically change the way your makeup looks, weather you want a subtle bit of definition or a full on face of contouring and highlighting its a great way to naturally enhance, define and sculpt areas of the face.
Before trying the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour palette, i used to simply use my Nars Laguna bronzer to contour with and although it does a fairly decent job and is a good natural looking shades for me, i really wanted to try something with a few different shades so i could try a more dramatic contoured look.
The Anastasia palette consists of six refillable powders, Vanilla a light pink toned highlight, Banana a yellow toned highlight, and sand a peach toned highlight with a very subtle shimmer to it. The contouring shades are Java a medium warn toned brown, Fawn light/medium cool toned brown and Havana a dark warm toned brown, all are matte.
The palette i have is the original palette and i would say its best suited for light/medium skin tones, there has since been a much larger variety of colours released and as the palette is refillable you could simply switch up some shades if you wanted, i love thats its also easy to replace shades you run out of without having to buy a new palette. The powders are all well pigmented, there also smooth and blend brilliantly. I've been enjoying using Vanilla to set my highlight areas, then using Banana to set just under the eyes the yellow brightens the area well. Sand is a really pretty highlight shade i just find it a bit subtle a highlight for the cheekbones for me i like something a lot more glowy, however i do like running a bit down the middle of my nose and on my cupids bow. For contouring i mainly use Fawn the cool tone is the most natural shade for me and it gives a really decent contour without being to much. If i've fake tanned a lot or just want something slightly more dramatic i add a little bit of Java on top of Fawn mainly just on the hollows of my cheeks and around my hairline and jawline, it would be too dark for my nose.
I really have been enjoying playing around with this palette, i think contouring takes a bit of practice to see what works best for you but a kit like this has everything you need in one compact little palette. This palette has really fueled my contouring fire, now i feel I'm mastering the powder contour i feel i may be ready to take on a cream contoured look and as it so has it Anastasia Beverly Hills has brought out there new collection of Cream Contour Kits today, i know what's next on my beauty wishlist....

Have you tired the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit? What did you think?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade In Blonde

18 November 2014

I recently treated myself to something that had been top of my beauty wish list for a while, the Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade. Since getting more into my beauty and makeup my brows have gone through a slow transformation, i used to be someone who paid barely any attention to their brows and now i feel pretty much naked if i don't put anything on them. My brow transformation has seen me test out a variety of product to find my perfect one, i had been using a combination of a brow pencil and Benefits Gimmie Brow to set but having heard so many people rave about DipBrow i knew i had to try it for myself.
The DipBrow Pomade is a cream formula that is an all on one product to prime, fill and shape the brows, its smudge and waterproof so is idea for oily skinned gals and for keeping the brows in place in humid climates.
I ordered the DipBrow in the shade Blonde and whilst at it i also ordered the brush recommended for application, the Anastasia Beverly Hills flat angled brush number 12 as i didn't have a brush i thought would be suitable. I was so excited to finally test it out for the first time to to be honest my first attempt didn't go all that well, i am the first to admit my brow skills are not my strongest point makeup wise and  having never used a product of its sort before on my brows i found it a bit difficult to begin with, i didn't really no how to apply it and was left with two very different looking brows. Inspite of this i was however instantly impressed with the formula and the colour. Since that first tragic attempt i have persevered and luckily improved massively with the application. The DipBrow has a soft creamy texture that applies smoothly to the brows, it fills, adds colour and defines to give a shape shape whilst still making the brows look very natural. For such a hardwearing waterproof product i am also happy to report that it doesn't go dry or crispy like other brow products i have tried i the past, and boy does it last well believe me your brows wont be going anywhere until you remove your makeup at the end of the day.
Colour wise Blonde was the perfect choice for me, however i do like my brows to be darker than my hair and i think some may find this slightly too dark if they prefer a lighter more natural look. Its is quite a neutral blonde so i think it would work with both warm and cool blondes, however their is a Taupe shade available for anyone wanting a more cool toned option.
Im also happy i did buy the brush as its the perfect accompaniment to the product, its small, firm and great for precise application it also has a brow brush at the other end to tidy and work the product through the brows.
I couldn't be more impressed with the DipBrow Pomade, it has completely changed the way i do my brows for the better it fills shapes and defines my brows and i feel they finally frame my face like they should and i don't see my self going back to a pencil now!

Have you tried the DipBrow Pomade? What did you think?

Who wouldn't have a Lime Crime lipstick on their wishlist? For a start how amazing is the packaging, its has unicorns on!! Now if that isn't enough to make you want something the gorgeous array of multicolored pastel shades sure will. Babette is a peachy nude shade thats just so pretty i need it in my collection.

I've tried a fair few but the next on my list is the Macadamia oil, i've heard countless rave reviews on it and I'm dying to try it out for myself.

4- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette £50
The Ambient Lighting Palette may be on the pricey side but considering they retail at £38 individually the palette is good value for money. I've seen so many bloggers and You Tubers use and love it, it looks like it gives such a pretty finish to the skin, i really want to test it out for myself.
