Mac Heroine Lipstick & Nightmoth Liner

25 March 2015

Mac Heroine lipstick and nightmoth liner review
Mac Heroine lipstick review

If you saw my Mac haul post a couple of weeks back you will already know that i recently added Heroine to my growing collection of Mac lipsticks. The bright purple hue is not a shade for everyone, its most definitely a stand out shade but as I'm not one who's afraid of a bit of colour i knew i had to try it. I am a fan of purple lip shades and already own a similar shade from Sleek which i reviewed a while back (review here) although i do prefer Heroine and i will explain why shortly it could be a great dupe for anyone looking for a cheaper alternative. Heroine is a bright Violet purple, i find it comes out slightly brighter than it appears in the tube but i personally love the colour, it's definitely bold but i don't think its too much. I think its a universally flattering shade that works on a variety of skintones due to the slightly pink undertones and i find it can look slightly different on different people. Its a matte lipstick that same as the Sleek one i mentioned earlier but this is where they differentiate for me, Heroine is not at all drying on the lips i don't even notice its there, its matte but still has the slightest sheen to in, the Sleek lipstick however in comparison feels incredibly drying on the lips i also don't think its such a nice vibrant purple. Wearabilty wise its lasts really well on me and doesn't take a lot of touching up.
I bought the Nightmoth liner to go with the lipstick, its a very dark plum liner that i thought would be great to go with it and add extra dimension to the lips. I actually like to line my lips with it and also slightly shade some areas to add more shape, kind of like contouring for your lips and i love how it looks. Combined with Heroine Nightmoth does make the lipstick look darker than if you were to wear it alone. I was also really impressed with the staying power of Nightmoth its the first Mac lip liner i've tried but it lasted even longer than the lipstick, great if you just want to top up your lipstick and not faff around with lip liner all day/night.

Overall i love the combination of them both, what do you think?

Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Exxxagerate

17 July 2014

I had been on the look out for a purple lipstick for a while, i love a bold lip and i think it probably the only colour i dont own. I found it hard to find one that was the right shade of purple most seem to be more plum colored and i didn't want one that had a red tone to it. I spotted Exxxaggerate when i was browsing the Sleek counter and snapped it up instantly as its just the purple i was looking for.
I was surprised by how small it is it really is a diddy little thing, i don't mind that you get a little less product than most other lipsticks as it is a great price at £4.99 and lipsticks seem to last forever anyway and its not exactly a colour I'm going to wear everyday.
The colour is gorgeous, its a blue toned dark purple and i just love it, its so dramatic and bold, a really stand out shade.
Its a matt formula but i don't find it drying at all, and although matt it actually has very fine shimmers in it, don't let that put you off if your not a fan of shimmer in your lipstick as its not very noticeable unless you look very closely. I really like the formula it lasts well even when eating and drinking which is great.
This is the first Sleek lipstick i've tried but I'm really impressed, sleek never seem to disappoint their definitely my favorite highstreet brand.

Have you tried a Sleek lipstcik? What did you think?

Mac Costa Chic Lipstick

14 March 2014

Im feeling a bit of a coral vibe on the blog this week! The lovely sunshine has had me bringing out pretty pinks and corals and leaving behind the vampy red and plums i wore through winter.
Todays review is a lipstick i am loving lately Mac's Costa Chic, i ordered this at the same time as Mac Hue (Review Here) last month.
Along with a nude i was looking for a nice summery everyday lip colour nothing too bold. I decided to go for a coral, i think they just suit everyone and they are a perfect spring summer colour.
I went for Costa Chic and i am very happy with my choice, its exactly the shade i wanted a gorgeous  warm pinky coral. Its a Frost finish which i was slightly unsure of to begin with but i think it works with this shade, its quiet a bold vibrant coral and the finish just tones it down slightly and makes it more wearable and just so pretty. Being the first frost finish i've tried i wasn't sure what to expect with staying power but its actually not bad at all much better than i expected, it feels moisturizing when you first apply but then seems to set on the lips without drying them out.  A slight downside with the frost finish is that this means it seems to settle into any creases and dryness so best to exfoliate the lips before use to get the best results, a lipgloss added on top will also look great.

I think i've found my perfect Spring Summer shade! Have you found yours?
